A chance to see how it works
Tomorrow I am going to Western HS to meet with the reading department. The purpose of our meeting is to teach the teachers how to create centers/stations at the high school level. I am going to show them the podcast I created and get feedback on whether or not the information presented on the podcast can be useful to them.

IT'S UP!
Podcast #16 is up and running and I am thrilled with the results. Now that it is complete I want to know how the podcast will impact secondary teachers who are interested in using centers in their classrooms. The results should be interesting. First I need to get the word out that the resource is available. Then I will take it from there.

I can't believe it!
I DID IT! I went to Plantation High School, video taped the class...again, came back to the office, researched iMovie and created a 4 1/2 minute movie on how to create stations in the high school and the benefits of using stations. I am so excited that I am thinking about bringing my short movie to Sundance next year : ). Can't wait to share and get it up on the web!

On the road again...
At the Effective Schools Program we ae in the process of designing some new trainings. I thought it would be a good idea to use blogs, podcasts, and links to resources for my training. It's a similar concept to Marci's "toolbox" that was discussed at crew. One of the podcasts would include a podcast on centers. So, I am looking to get back out to the school next week (keep your fingers crossed that it happnes). Lots of ideas just don't always have the opportunity to get out on the road and do what needs to be done. I would like to learn how to actually create the podcast. Can we have a training on that? Until the next posting, happy blogging!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
With the new year comes new challenges. It seems as though that every time I think I am taking two steps forward I feel like I am actaully taking two steps back. I went to Plantation HS before break and took some incredible video footage of the centers. I interviewed the C-NET coach, the teacher, and 2 students. It was great! I was having a difficult time getting the video to download and it turns out the computer would not recognize the camera. Randee was kind enough to take the tape and see if he could get it to work on his own personal computer. Turns out the tape was scrambled. WHAT A MESS! Tomorrow Randee and I will be sitting down toegtether to see if we can get the tape working. Keep your fingers, eyes, and toes crossed. He is also going to be teaching me how to create a blog. That has been frustrating. I wish I was able to attend more of the ebolt trainings. It seems that I am always training when they are going on. Well, it's been a slow boat to nowhere but hopefully soon the boat will meet it's final destination.

Still November and I have a new question.
I have been working with a local high school in an intensive reading class. I have gone in and taught the teacher how to set up centers/stations in her classroom. She has implemented the stations and they have been very successful. Centers are an ESE and elementary classroom strategy. My background is in ESE/high school. I think it would be beneficial to our clients to have resources avalibale to them for setting up and creating effective centers/stations in their classrooms. Therefore my new and improved action research question is: How will my ESE background with the use of iPod technology enhance the quality of my training and support to my clients? I can't wait to get some video on some great teaching techniques taking place in our schools.

November already?
In the time that I have been part of this learning community I have changed my action research like I change my socks : ). This is my first year with HRD and I believe I learn something new everyday regrading our clients and their needs. While learning to simply turn my ipod on and off and becoming familiar with action research I have come up with an idea that has been getting positive feedback. Tanya has given me great video footage of One Voice training that took place this summer. I hope to begin using the footage as a model with this group and begin asking for feedback. As luck would have it I have a defective ipod and will be getting a new one tomorrow (finally). I look forward to beginning my research.
